World Parkinsons Day 2018
Did you know that one in every 340 people in Australia live with Parkinson's Disease?
Here at Your Health Hub we have a team of health professionals that can assist you or your loved one with managing the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease.
We know that early intervention from your specialist and allied health team is integral to managing the symptoms of this disease.
We now have a a new circuit class in our Health & Fitness Studio specifically for people with Parkinson’s Disease, as well as a specialised dance class - 'Dancing with Parkinsons' that runs each week for people with Parkinson's (family members or friends are encouraged to come along as partners). This is a fun, high energy class that uses the joy of music to facilitate movement.
We also have a Physiotherapist led Tai Chi class on Friday mornings at 10:00am with a focus on falls prevention. This class has been designed to challenge balance with weight transfer practice as well as coordination of arm and leg movements.
If you know of someone who has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, an assessment with a Physiotherapist is essential for future management.
A Physiotherapist can equip you with the knowledge, skills and a high intensity exercise program that may to slow down the progression of disease.
