For the month of March, the Cancer Council of Australia runs The March Charge “a fun personal fitness challenge that has an enormous impact on how cancer is researched and treated”.

It is about minimising the threat of cancer for all Australians, through successful prevention, treatment and support.

The Clinical Oncology Association of Australia now recommends that everyone who is going through or has been through treatment for cancer is regularly undertaking exercise.

How Can Exercise Physiologist Help with Cancer Treatment

Exercise Physiologists are exercise professionals who know exactly how to prescribe the right exercise for anyone going through treatment at any stage.

Robb Macmillan is one of our Exercise Physiologists who has extensive background working with cancer patients of all ages.

“The rewarding thing about working with people going through treatment, is the difference exercise can make to mood, fatigue and all treatment-related side effects…

You can see someone walk into the gym feeling terrible and walk out with a smile on their face ready to take on the rest of the day” said Robb.

Exercise for Cancer Class

At Your Health Hub, we run Exercise for Cancer and 1-1 or in small group classes.

The aim is to support the patient through every stage of their cancer journey.

The benefits of this class include:

  • Improved energy levels
  • Reduction in treatment side effects such as pain and nausea
  • Decreased hospitalisation time
  • Increase in muscle strength and flexibility
  • Better immune function
  • Enhanced mood and self-esteem

If you or anyone you know could benefit from more exercise, contact us today to book in an initial appointment with one of our Exercise Physiologists.
