Christmas can be a stressful time with organising presents, family and food.
If you are also worried about your eating choices over Christmas, see the following three tips:
1. Take food to Christmas dinner
that is yummy and healthy to make it easier to make a healthy choice on the day! If you take something either fruit-based, vegetable-based, lean meat-based or wholegrain based, you’ll be on the right track.
2. Try your best to eat to your hunger on Christmas day
Eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full. If this is difficult, aim to crowd out the high fat/sugar options with healthier alternatives.
For example, filling your plate up with Christmas veggies first or going for fresh fruits before the pudding.
3. Move your body in a way that you enjoy
When the day is almost over, try to ignore the little voice that tells you to feel guilty for your eating and that you need to burn it all off or starve yourself for the days following.
This will only lead to yo-yo eating patterns in the months to follow Christmas. Go for a walk with family or head to the beach for a swim and concentrate on what your body is telling you.
